Annie Lee Hughes, age 83, lost her battle with cancer at Bayshore Hospital in Pasadena, Texas on Mother's Day May 12, 2019.
Annie was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana to Florence and Cecil Dement.
The family moved to Orange, Texas in 1943 and after the Texas City Disaster in 1947 they moved to the Texas City- La Marque area, where she Graduated from La Marque High School.
She worked at Prince's Drive-In where she met Charles Ronald Hughes. They were married November 12, 1960 for 47 years. Annie was a member of Central Baptist Church in Pasadena where she taught Sunday School for the children. She worked at Handy Hardware for many years before working as a Mission Support Personnel for Lockheed Martin at Nasa in Clear Lake for the remainder of her career.
Annie was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Mema, Great Mema, Sister, Aunt and friend.
Family always came first for her. She loved all beautiful blooming flowers. Her favorites were always Plumerias. One of her nicknames was "Plummie Annie" because she had so many of the beautiful tropical plants. Her other favorite thing was sitting on her back porch and watching the little hummingbirds.
Annie is preceded in death by her Parents and Husband and her beloved dog Scooter.
She will live on forever in the hearts of those who survived her, daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren, her sister and brother in law, nieces and nephews and her 2 dogs Larry and Luna, and lots of friends. She is also survived by her fishing buddies and closest friends of 50 plus years Don and Sue Gray. She will always be in the hearts of everyone's life she touched with her beautiful smile and great sense of humor.
