Barbara Bridges

Barbara Ann Bridges walked through the gates of Heaven on May 2, 2012. After a long and brave battle against Alzheimers disease, she passed from this earth to a renewed body, mind and spirit.
Barbara was born May 29, 1942 in Beaumont, Texas. Barbara was a loving and cherished wife, mother and daughter. She was a lifelong resident of Texas City, Texas. She graduated from Texas City High School in 1959 and married her high school sweetheart, William Pete Bridges. Barbara and Pete shared more than 58 years of a lifelong love. Barbara was the original multitasker long before the phrase was coined. She was capable of handling anything placed before her with grace, efficiency, sincere thought and care. She worked and retired from College of the Mainland in 1997 as a secretary and assistant to many departments of the college. In her years of retirement, while dealing with Alzheimers, she loved and was greatly loved by her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Ann Armstrong, brother, Jack Armstrong, and soninlaw, Grady Don Burke.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 52 years, William P. Bridges, Jr., daughter and soninlaw, Kelly and Mark Davis, grandchildren Stephen and Katherine Davis, daughter, Cindy Burke and grandchildren Hannah, Hailey and Hunter Burke, brother and sisterinlaw, Leon and Edna Armstrong, and her niece, Rosaline Green and nephew, J. L. Armstrong.
In lieu of traditional flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Alzheimers Association, Houston Southeast Texas Chapter, 2242 W. Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 770302008. Our family greatly appreciates your donations to support the funding of a cure for this cruel and debilitating disease.
