Barbara Cox

Barbara Jean Cox, 83, of Texas City, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 16, 2016.

Jean was born on November 26, 1932 in Golson, Mississippi. Her family moved to Texas City when she was a young girl. She attended Texas City High School where she met Warner Dean Cox. After graduating in 1951, they married, made their home in Texas City and had two boys. Jean worked many jobs in the clerical field and retired from the Texas Employment Commission after many years of service.

Survivors include sons, Ben Cox, Jason Cox and wife Jennifer and their children, Lindsay McKinney and husband Scott, Hayley Cox, Shannon Cox, Zachery Cox, Sara Cox and KayCee Cox; She was also blessed with two great grandchildren, Scott McKinney Jr. and Hunter Baxter.

Visitation will be 5:00 - 6:00 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2016 with a service to follow at 6:00 p.m. at Emken-Linton Funeral Home. There will also be a graveside service in Old Union, Texas on Saturday, May 21, 2016. Barbara Jean will be laid to rest next to her husband, Warner Dean and daughter in law, Jackie Cox.
