Benjamin George Johnston “Gentle Ben”, 83, of Texas City, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 19, 2026, in Webster, Texas.

Ben was born December 14, 1942, in Texas City, Texas to Lloyd Chester Johnston, and Alta Madge Follis Johnston.

He retired from Union Carbide in Texas City and Baker Hughes in Texas City. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church. He served faithfully for many years as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher, and a mentor to many. He was a Godly man, solid in his faith and service for his Lord and Savior. He loved the Lord with all of his heart and had a servant’s heart. He lived out his love for the Lord. Ben will be remembered for being a prayer warrior, one who was always ready to pray for anyone. He was a true example of God’s love in action. He tried his best to faithfully follow the great commandment to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Linda Lorrane Johnston, brother Lloyd Johnston.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 26, 2026, 11:00 a.m., at Emken-Linton Funeral Home, 5100 Emmett F. Lowry Expwy, Texas City, Texas 77591. Visitation will be Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.

Survivors include his wife Beverly Johnston, sons Robert Johnston (Jody), John Johnston (Regina), Jeff Johnston (Dana), James Elkins (Cassi), grandchildren Brittney Moore (Wayne), Casey Johnston (Abbie), Kirstey Johnston, Brady Johnston, Jasper Derrick, James Elkins, Colin Fuchigami (Demi), Kaetlyn Fuchigami, Caroline Venegas, Savannah Venegas, Jacob Johnston, Bella Johnston, great-grandchildren Josie Johnston, CeCe Johnston.

Pallbearers are Michael Langford, Paul Bourgeois, Randy Chambers, Tray Park, Randy Menefee, Doug Richey.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northside Baptist Church, 2801 25th Street North, Texas City, Tx, 77590.
