Billy (BJ) Honeycutt

Billy Jack (BJ) Honeycutt passed away on June 14, 2025 at his residence at Parkdale First Colony, Sugar Land, Texas.

Billy was born on May 15, 1933 in New London, Texas. He attended the New London public schools, graduating in 1952. After graduation Billy was drafted by the US Army and proudly served with the Artillery in Germany, rising to the rank of Sergeant E5. After leaving the Army, Billy moved to Pasadena, Texas working for Shell Refinery and going to the University of Houston, graduating with a BS in English and Education in 1962. He started a long career teaching at first for the Pasadena ISD, followed by stints at San Jacinto College and several other schools in the greater Houston area and in Fredericksburg, Texas. During this time, Billy received his Master of Education and Doctoral Degree from the University of Houston. Finally retiring to Sugar Land, Texas.

Billy was preceded in his death by his beloved wife, Jeanne; his father, Dave Honeycutt; his mother, Mary Honeycutt; brothers, Kenneth Honeycutt and Baxter Honeycutt; sisters, Marie Fulton and Ann Golden and Becky Altmeyer.

Survivors include his brother, David Honeycutt and numerous nieces and nephews. In Addition, Bill is survived by the children of his wife Jeanne, whom he referred to as his children, Randy Abernathy, Keith Abernathy, Rick Abernathy, and Annette Bain, plus several beloved grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Brookdale First Colony, 16900 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land, TX 77479.
