Obituary

Carol Yolanda Grullon, 63, was born on December 16, 1962, and entered into eternal rest on July 2, 2026, at 11:40 p.m. at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m., on Tuesday, July 14, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City.

Carol graduated from Texas City High School with the Class of 1980. She continued her education at College of the Mainland, where she studied cosmetology, and later fulfilled a lifelong dream by graduating from the Paul Mitchell School in Houston with the Class of 2017. Her dedication to learning and her passion for serving others through her profession reflected her determination, perseverance, and caring spirit.

Carol lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service. She was a member of the ACTS Community and faithfully served as an ACTS Director in 2010. She was also a devoted member of St. Catherine's Altar Society where she generously shared her time and talents in service to her parish. In addition, she served on St. Mary's Parish Council and was a devoted adoration adorer.

Carol dedicated 15 years of her career to Galveston County Pretrial before retiring to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a hairdresser. She went on to enjoy a successful career as a hairstylist for more than 30 years, eventually opening her own salons - Alta Gracia and Carol & Company -where she built lasting friendships and made countless clients feel beautiful and cared for. Due to health issues, she later retired and served as an aide at Fatima School.

Above all, Carol treasured her family. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her beloved grandchildren and preparing meals that brought everyone together around the table. She loved making homemade tortillas for her precious children and grandchildren. She especially cherished the holidays, with Christmas holding a special place in her heart. Her home was always beautifully decorated, reflecting the warmth and love she shared with everyone who entered.

One of Carol's most cherished traditions was gathering each year with her sisters and family to make tamales and bake Christmas cookies. These moments of laughter, love, and togetherness created treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Sam P. Garza and Lucy Garza; her beloved son, Samuel Garza; and her grandparents, Isidoro Canales and Pauline Canales.

She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, David Grullon; her sisters, Susie Ayala (Freddie), Doris Abad (Tirso), Toni Miranda (Philip), Celeste Garza Tozier, Celia (Sally) Garza, and Linda Ligouri, her brothers, Michael M. Martinez (Flor) and Gary Garza, Gregory Garza (Becky); her sons, Abel Dimas (Miriam) and Carl Grullon (Taisha); her former daughter-in-law, Adela, and her precious grandchildren, Ashton, Aiden, Jay, Kassidy, Abel Jr., Aviana, Ace, Aracely, Drako, Camilla, Avery, Sam, Aven, Aubrey, and Rakkelle, all of whom she loved beyond measure. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Carol will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous heart, compassionate spirit, and unconditional love for her family. Her beautiful smile, kind words, and servant's heart touched countless lives. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, faith, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away." - Revelation 21:4

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Carol's memory.
