William Clifton Cliff Holt, 84, of Texas City, went home to be with the Lord on July 5, 2011 in Houston.

Visitation will be held from 6 8:30 p.m., on Thursday, July 7, at EmkenLinton Funeral Home in Texas City. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Friday, July 8, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.

Cliff was born on June 13, 1927 to Clifford and Barbara Holt in Alma, Arkansas. At the age of five, Cliff and his parents moved to Raymondville, Texas. He graduated from Raymondville High School at the age of sixteen. He attended the University of Texas in Austin for one year before entering the service of the U.S. Marines. After serving his country, mostly in China, Cliff returned to U.T. where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1950. On April 16, 1950, he married the love of his life Maryem Siebel. He entered the teachingcoaching profession and received his Masters degree at U.T. In 1962, he began work in auto sales and management.

Cliff was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Nassau Bay, was an avid golfer, loved attending high school sporting events, and enjoyed traveling to different regions of the U.S. with his wife. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather.

Cliff is preceded in death by his parents and his sons Michael L. Holt and Boyd Holt.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Maryem Holt sons Bill Holt and wife Jeanne of Castroville, David Holt and wife Jo Lynn of Uvalde and Tim Holt of Texas City granddaughters Cori Davidson and husband Robert of Gonzales, Louisiana, Cara Holt of Austin, Casy Holt and Callie Holt of San Antonio, and Carli Holt of Uvalde grandsons Michael Holt of Huntsville, Alabama, Cody Holt of Castroville, Caleb Holt of Spring, Ceth Holt of Dallas and Jimmie Holt of Castroville greatgrandsons Bryce Holt and Braden Holt of Huntsville, Alabama a brother Alan Holt and wife Debbie Armbruster of Austin numerous other loving relatives and friends.
