Our dear mother, Connie Flores, was called home to our Lord on March 6, 2026, at the age of 91. Surrounded by her children at the time of her passing, Connie's life was marked by love and devotion to her family. She was born in Lockhart, Texas, on July 31, 1934, and her journey was filled with warmth, strength, and unwavering faith.
Connie was married to Raymond Flores Sr. for 63 years. She is survived by her daughter Sylvia Fuentez, sons Raymond Flores Jr. and David Flores, grandchildren Tony, Tory, Tomas & wife Kimmie, brothers Robert and Miguel Serrato, and great-grandchildren Eliana Marisol and Joshua Antonio. Her beloved dog Yuli was her cherished companion.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, parents Miguel and Maria Serrato, sister Emma Barrientos, brothers Freddie and Tomas Serrato, sister-in-law Tina Serrato, aunt, Della Marquez, her loving son-in-law Tony who she said was a gift from God to her family.
Connie worked at St. Mary's Hospital for 35 years until they closed, She loved working at Shriner's Hospital for 12 years before she retired. She loved going to work because of the people she worked with, they were very special to her, she said it was the best job she ever had.
Miss Connie as she was affectionately called loved Las Vegas for 2 reasons, to play slots and see her brother Freddie and his wife Maggie. That was her yearly vacation with family and friends, she said it felt like another world and was so excited to visit. The best vacation ever was with Linda and Bobby Alcala for several weeks through Wyoming, Yellowstone, Idaho, Colorado and of course Las Vegas. Bobby was dad's cousin and Linda was like a sister, who she shared her feelings about their lives and what was beyond.
Mom was a devoted grandmother, always cheering on her grandchildren and sharing in their activities. She played an active role in their lives, from spending weekends together to celebrating holidays, especially Christmas, which she made memorable for everyone. Passionate about the Astros, she named her pet Yuli after a player and was grateful to Bobby Ford who provided wonderful memories at the stadium. Sundays were spent playing Bingo with her family and friends, mom loved to win!
She cared deeply for her family: Emma's from Austin, Robert's , and her adopted family-Jim, Del, Angie, and Bubba. In her final days, Mom felt especially connected to Del and often confided in her.
We sincerely thank Dr. Cecil Kumfa and April Crouch N.P. for their outstanding care and kindness; Mom deeply appreciated their support.
In lieu of flowers please donate to Queen of Peace Church in her memory.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the visitation for Connie Flores, which will take place on April 11, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Queen of Peace Church, 1224 Cedar Dr., with a Mass honoring her life. A fellowship luncheon to follow at Parish Hall.
