PFC Daniel "DJ" Nelson

PFC Daniel J. Nelson, 23, of Houston, Texas passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at the Soldier Recovery Unit, JBSA Fort Sam San Antonio, Texas to an aggressive cancer. He was born October 28, 1999, in Galveston, Texas.

D.J. showed his bravery everyday fighting for his life right after finishing Boot Camp. All he truly ever wanted was to be of service to his country.

He graduated from Hitchcock High School and he had many friends that were as fun loving as he was.

D.J. is survived by his father, Donald Stahl and wife Pricilla and their 3 children Issey, Mariona, and Ben; mother, Crystal Hollingsworth and her 3 girls. aunt, Sherry Nelson; sisters, Staci Schott, Scooter Dwyer and best friend Emily; grandparents, Claudia and Bobby Alexander.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2023, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home, 5100 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, Texas City, Texas. Funeral services will follow with full military honors at 6:00 p.m., with Charles Goodnight officiating.
