Darrell E. DePratter of Friendswood passed away Saturday, May 2, 2026. 

He was born in Galveston, Texas, and grew up in Texas City, where he loved playing football for Texas City High School, proudly wearing #44 and graduating with the class of 1962. College plans were cut short when the U.S. Army called, and he served with pride often saying that he kept the Viet Cong from invading Berlin.

Darrell loved watching football, baseball and especially the College World Series and Little League World Series. He enjoyed gambling, particularly with Uncle Doyle and Stephanie. He cherished time spent with friends and family, and he loved traveling the world with them.

Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Cristal; his brothers, Clarence DePratter, Dwayne Colvin, and Wayne Cornish; and his beloved uncle, Doyle DePratter.

To cherish his memory, he leaves behind his soulmate of 55 years, Teresa DePratter, along with so many treasured relatives and friends. His love and good nature will be missed by all who knew him. A special thanks goes to his brother, Eddie, who was always there and his sisters-in-love, Kitty, Alice and Betty.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date
