Darrell Matheson

Darrell L. Matheson, 57, of Texas City passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Mainland Medical Center. Funeral services will be held in Powell, Tennessee.

Darrell was born on February 24, 1960 in Oak Ridge, TN. He grew up in Tennessee and Kentucky and has been a resident of Texas since his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1981.

He retired 3 years ago, from the Texas City Police Department after 31 years of service. Since then he became quite a genealogist and though he would have liked full names, birth dates, and residences of all his relatives listed for future genealogists, we apologize.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Etta Ruth Roysden Matheson (the oldest of 15) and his father, John Franklin Matheson (the youngest of 16), both of Elizabethtown, KY; his sister, Rhonda Chelinsky; brother, Randy Matheson; his grandparents and many others.

He is survived by his wife, Liz; her father, Bill Kelley; son, Kenneth of Texas City; his brother, Wayne Matheson of Florida, and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. We must mention his dogs, Tom Brady and Coach "Bella", named by his wife. Darrell was a Texan's fan who loved his wife. We hope that he is now surrounded by his family with his favorite dog Lucy at his side.
