Dr. Fedora (Fay) González, 91, passed away December 24, 2017 in Lewisville, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 1604 9th Avenue N. Texas City, Texas at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas. Visitation will be at 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2017 with a rosary 7:00 p.m. at Emken Linton Funeral Home, 5100 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, Texas City, Texas.

Dr. Fay González was born in Matanzas, Cuba July 1, 1926. She was a devoted mother to Anna González Lyon, Carmen González Weaver and husband, Todd and Eva González Salazar, husband John. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Jesus González. She was the proud grandmother of Susanna, Rosanna, Colt, Ramsey, Andy, Adriana and Erika. She also had great-grandchildren; Nova, Reymond, Mia and Parker.

Fedora was a retired teacher in Galveston I.S.D. and Goose Creek I.S.D. She was also a former professor at College of the Mainland and the University of Houston Main Campus. She was born in Cuba and became a U.S. citizen residing in Texas City for 45 years. In 2001, she and her husband moved to Colleyville, Texas to live with their youngest daughter Eva and her husband John.

Dr. González graduated as a pedagogue (Educator) from the University of Havana, Cuba, where she received her doctorate in education in 1953. After moving to the U.S., she "revalidated" her Master's degree at the University of Houston. She received awards from Houston Association of Bilingual Teachers including Distinguished Teacher of the year. She also had numerous awards in her profession.

Dr. González was a true lady, and a timeless example of strength and elegance. She enjoyed, poetry, singing, and playing the mandolin. She never stopped wanting to learn. She will be truly missed. Rest in Peace Dr. Fedora González.
