Elizabeth Clay

Elizabeth Beth Velasco Clay, age 74, a longtime resident of the Galveston area, went to be with our Lord on Monday, April 2nd, 2012. She was born on January 4th, 1938 in Pasadena, TX.

Visitation will be from 5pm7pm, on Thursday, April 5th at EmkenLinton Funeral Home in Texas City. Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Friday, April 6th at EmkenLinton Funeral Home in Texas City with Dr. Robert Miller, officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Alvin, Texas.

While Elizabeth attended Ball High School in 1956, The Ball High choir, band and orchestra attended the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in Dallas. She was chosen as one of the four first altos in the region. She graduated from Ball High in May, 1957. She attended Sam Houston State College, 1957 through 1959. She started working for Walgreens back in 1954, in the soda fountain department she later became the book keeper, then was given the Most Courteous Employee Award in 1965 while working in the drug department at the post office location in Galveston, Texas. She later became the Manager for several of the surrounding Walgreen Stores. She retired after serving 45 years with Walgreens Inc.

Elizabeth enjoyed going out to eat and shopping. She also enjoyed a Fred Astaire movie every once in a while. She loved listening to Christian music too. The one thing she treasured and was very close to her heart, was her family. She loved them all, dearly. She cherished every moment she spent with them, whether it was through visiting, going out to eat or shopping. She was an amazing lady. Our One In A Million. She was our angel, sent from God. She was never too busy to spend time or help out in any way she could. She was always there. Our love for her will never end, we loved her deeply. She will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her father, Rev. Adolph Velasco, Sr. mother Theodora Dora Esquivel Velasco husband Bernard C. Clay brother, Emilio Velasco nephew, John Truesdale Jr. great nephews, Hector Rodriguez Jr. and Bradley Miller Jr.

Survivors include her brothers, sisters and their families, Aaron Velasco, Adolph Velasco, Jr. and wife Molly, Daniel Velasco and wife Janie, Abel Velasco and wife Wynn, of Texas City Angelina Stillinger and husband Richard, Sarah Remollino and husband Joseph of Alvin, Ruth Bobbitt and husband John of Weches, Texas, George Velasco and wife Barbara of Friendswood Patricia Rojas Velasco, sisterinlaw of Groves, Texas numerous nieces and nephews, Deanna Cheney, Carlene Trujillo, Debbie Trujillo, Aaron Dwayne Trujillo, Moses Velasco, Melinda Perales, Adolph Velasco III, Amanda Ewer, Amy Riser, Alicia Velasco, Elissa Gorom, Ashley Bedard, Richard Stillinger, Jr., Lisa Macias, Marie Hundley, Natasha Simmons , Melissa Price, Christopher Velasco, Christina Rodriguez, Heather Velasco, Joshua Velasco, William Blankenship, Paul Garcia, Erica Arabie, Ashley Quinn, and Danielle Quinn.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Velasco, Adolph Velasco, Jr., George Velasco, Abel Velasco, Daniel Velasco and Adolph Corky Velasco, III
