Elizabeth Richardson Dunn, our beloved Mother and wife of David A Dunn III, died peacefully the morning of February 9, 2013. She was born February 3, 1917 in Munising, MI on Lake Superior to Dr. Carlos J. Light and Clara Porter Richardson.
A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 15, 2013 at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.
She attended Northwestern University as an organ and voice major in the School of Music and was an active member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She joined the WAAC in 1943 becoming a Lieutenant in the WAC and a Recruiter for the Service where she met her husband, also an Army Officer. The family moved to Texas City in 1948 and she has been a member of St Georges Episcopal Church since 1949. She was active as an organist and Choir Director in the 1950s. Elizabeth suffered a major stroke in 1958 but was able to rebuild her life and raise her children.
She was predeceased by her parents, a brother and three sisters, in addition to her husband and son David A Dunn IV.
Elizabeth is survived by her sons John Light Dunn and wife Linda, and R Haynes Dunn along with grandchildren Seanna Dunn, John L Dunn and wife Kaylan, Leslie A Novak and husband David, D. Haynes Dunn, Ryan H Dunn, and Meghan L Dunn. In addition she has her great grandchildren Calista, Hayden, Connor and Molly Novak and Grayson Carr.
Special thanks to Karen Andrews who helped with Mothers care and their many sing alongs.
Mother will always be remembered for her love and her happy caring nature. Donations in her memory may be made to St Georges Episcopal Church or a charity of your choice.
