Enriqueta Acosta

Enriqueta "Queta" Acosta, age 90, died peacefully Friday evening December 30, 2016 in Webster, Texas. After experiencing a stroke, she was taken to Clear Lake Regional Hospital where family and friends surrounded her with abundant love and fervent prayers until her Wonderful Savior called her home just hours before her 91st birthday.

She was born on December 31, 1925 in Texas City, Texas to Timoteo and Angelita Ramirez. In 1945, she married her first husband Trinidad Salazar, whom she lost in the Texas City Disaster of 1947. She later married Angel Acosta Sr. who eventually served as deacon at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church. They spent more than 50 years as husband and wife until his passing in 2000. During that time Enriqueta worked as a head custodian for Texas City ISD for 40 yrs. She was also involved in the Altar Society and served as an active member of Las Guadalupanas, a group of women who raised money for the St Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church. In their service together, she and her friends formed a lifetime of friendship and precious memories.

Enriqueta was known by her loved ones as a faithful, God-loving woman and relentless prayer warrior. Despite much heartache endured with the loss of loved ones in her lifetime, it was Enriqueta's quiet strength, her steadfast faith and dedication to the Lord that carried her through the storms of life. The legacy she leaves behind is one overflowing with God's unconditional love and an unwavering strength of faith that has touched the lives of all who loved and knew her well. She has also given us the treasure of countless, unforgettable memories of her love for dancing and music. Her silly, fun-loving personality always came alive with a song, as she enjoyed music often either in praise to the Lord or, just a quick boost in spirit.

Left to honor her life and remember her love are her children Suzanne Vasquez (John Diaz), Angel Acosta and wife Alma, Mario Acosta and wife Cindy, Bonnie Garza Adams and husband Ed; nieces Brenda Powell and husband Richard, Phil Nesbitt and husband Jeff, and Renee Zabaloui and Mario; 18 grandchildren Vonnie Vasquez (Scott Palmer), Vedette Peckman and husband Ash, Amanda Lightfoot and husband Lee, Timothy Vasquez (Nadia), Michael Vasquez (Raquel), Rogelio Garza Jr., Jose A. Garza Jr. and wife Amanda, Angel J. Acosta, Philip Salazar (Olga), Marlo King, Adrian Acosta and wife Jessica, Lenora Pugh and husband Mike, Anthony Acosta, Mario Acosta Jr., Joshua Sebesta and wife Melissa, Joseph Sebesta, Jonathan Powell, and Hannah Zabaloui; 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her father, Timoteo Ramirez, mother Angelita Ramirez, sister Rosie Vasquez her spouses, Trinidad Salazar and Angel Acosta Sr, son Trinidad "Sonny" Salazar and her daughter Diane Garza.

Pallbearers include Timothy & Michael Vasquez, Rogelio Garza Jr., Jose A. Garza Jr., Angel J. Acosta, Philip Salazar, and Mario Acosta Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Joshua & Joseph Sebesta, and Jonathan Powell.
