Glenda Sikes Allphin, 84, of Elkhart, Texas, passed away Monday, December 01, 2025, in Palestine, Texas.
A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home, 5100 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, Texas City, TX 77591.
Glenda was born in Idabel, Oklahoma to Edward and Hazel Sikes. Moved to Texas City when she was a toddler. She danced for the Houston Ballet Foundation and was one of the original students of the Houston Ballet Academy and Houston Youth Symphony Ballet. Graduating from Texas City High School in 1959. She married Charlie Platt and had 3 children. In 1982, she married the love of her life James “Mit” Allphin and moved to Crockett. She was employed by USI/Quantum in inventory control. Her next adventure after retirement took them to Bellville. In 2001, after Mit’s passing she moved to Santa Fe, Texas to be near her family. She was a member of the Rainbow Girls, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Texas City Chapter # 626. She never met a stranger and was the greatest storyteller on earth. She loved soap operas, movies, flower gardens, the weather channel, bird and wildlife watching. She also loved spending quality time with her family, however, equally enjoyed solitude. Her final move was to Elkhart where she had a peaceful and happy life in the Piney Woods, with her little dog Libby.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, James “Mit” Allphin; daughter, Gwendolyn Platt Eversole; son, Charles “Chuck” Platt; grandson, Kyle M. Pitts: brothers, Edward “Eddie” Sikes, David A. Sikes; niece, Shelley K. Sikes and nephew, Andrew C. Sikes.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Tammi Platt Vera (Ron); grandchildren, Chuckie Platt, Cody Platt (Torie), Cassandra Eversole (Traci), Bruce Eversole (Jade); great grandchildren, Collin, Lexi, Kayson, Carson and Madison Platt.
Glenda also leaves behind a bonus family which included James Allphin (Sara), Byron Allphin (Ronda) and Clint Allphin (Vicki), JR Vera (Sara), Sienna Flores, Shane Rosecran (Don), Heath (Gretchen), BJ (Timberly), Jacob and Eric Allphin.
Special Friends – Deloise Pewitt, Diane Flemings, Jewelene Cornish, Helen Reed, her daughter from another mother - Toni Klaes Dutton, along with and friends and family.
Her memory will be cherished, and her legacy will live on.
