Gloria Williams

Gloria M. Zemer Williams, 84, of Texas City, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the Army Residence Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Mrs. Williams was born March 5, 1928 in Paulina, Louisiana. The daughter of LeRoy and Elva Laiche Zemer, she was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister.

She was a graduate of Central High School Texas City High School in 1949. Before retiring, Mrs. Williams worked for Weingartens. She was a life time member of St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church and an active member of the Altar Society, The Garden Club of Texas City, and Silvertones.

Gloria is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Lorris W. Williams her daughter Alice A. Menefee her three brothers Leroy Zemer, Jr., Gerald Zemer, and Harold Zemer.

Survivors include her daughters Brenda Allen and husband Gene of San Antonio and Laurel Rice of Lexington, Kentucky son in law John Menefee of Sunrise Beach, Texas sister Joyce Hilton and husband Bill of Pasadena, Texas grandchildren Melissa Hallett and husband Jeff of Fort Collins, Colorado, Jared Reardon of Indianapolis, Indiana Heather Engebretson of Rapid City, South Dakota ten greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 4, 2012, followed by a Vigil at 7:00 P.M. at the Emken Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.

Donations may be made in honor of Gloria Williams to the Alzheimers Association.
