Grace Best Boyd, of Texas City, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026. She was born July 23, 1931, in Woodville, Texas (Tyler County), to Arvy Haskell Best and Mary Irene Odom Best. She graduated valedictorian of Kirby High School in 1948, then lived briefly with her older sisters in Houston. She moved to Texas City in December of 1948 when she married George Robert Boyd, Jr. of Texas City.

She worked for the gas company and later for Monsanto while attending the University of Houston / University of Houston Clear Lake, where she obtained a degree in Computer Science. She retired from Unisys / Rockwell in 1996.

She loved to travel and visited all 50 of the United States with Robert. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sewing, decorating, and fashion. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandsons.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, George Robert Boyd, Jr. in 2018; her parents; sisters: Avis Lenora Best Carter, Madie Doris Best Elwood, Nancy Evelyn Best Gowan, and Hazel Joanne Best Jensen; and brothers: Vernon Preston Best and Herschel Clayton Best. She is survived by daughters, Lisa Dianne Boyd and Susan Kathleen Boyd Brown (Kurt); grandsons, Davis Boyd Brown and Landon Walker Brown; brother-in-law, Wallace Gowan; and special nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, March 30, 2026, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Emken-Linton Funeral Home, 5100 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, Texas City, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., at Hart-Mill Cemetery in Tyler County.
