Helen Jean Thompson

With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Helen Jean Thompson, who departed this life peacefully on September 26, 2025, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 89.

Helen was born on April 6, 1936, to Bertha and Peter Stoot in Opelousas, Louisiana, the 3rd of 8 children. She attended J.S. Clark High School in Opelousas, where she began a lifelong journey of learning, compassion, and service to others.

On December 17, 1955, Helen married the love of her life, Thomas Thompson Sr. Together, they built a home filled with love, faith, and family.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Thompson Sr; her son, Thomas Thompson Jr; her parents, Bertha and Peter Stoot; her son-in-law, Alexander Thibodeaux; and her siblings, Bertha Pichon, Vivian Bank, Clifford Stoot, Eugene Stoot, and Sylvia Harriston.

Helen is survived by her loving children, Norma Thibodeaux, Terrence Thompson (Calethia Thompson) and Trent Thompson (Sonji Thompson). She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Therane Thibodeaux (Tashara Thibodeaux), Jeremy Thibodeaux, Terrence Cameron Thompson, Nicholas Thompson and Trinity Thompson and her beloved great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and pride. Helen is also survived by her sisters, Angelia Mizell and Marjorie Pichon.

Helen's legacy is one of kindness, resilience, and unconditional love. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. Family and friends will come together to honor and celebrate her life and legacy. Burial will take place at Houston Memorial Gardens in Pearland, Texas, following the service.
