Hycanth Bailey

Hycanth Pauline Sharp Bailey, 95, of Texas City, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Mainland Medical Center.

Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 12, 2016 with a visitation starting at 9:00 a.m., at the Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park.

She was born on January 28, 1921 in Milledgeville, Tennessee to the parents of Joe and June Sharp. She grew up on the family farm, youngest of nine children. In high school Hycanth was very athletic and excelled at basketball as a point guard and enjoyed tap dancing. In January of 1938 she married the love of her life, James Robert "Jim Bob" Bailey. They were married for 59 years. Together they traveled to many places including Bermuda, Hawaii, Spain, Italy, Japan, Hong Kong, Germany and France.

She is survived by her children, June Carolyn Bailey McDaniel and James William Bailey; grandchildren, Mickey McDaniel and wife Kayla, Mark McDaniel and wife Paula, David Bailey, Sr, Wendy Bailey Miller and Lisa Bailey Shipley; great grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Melanie and Scott McDaniel, David, Lizabeth and Amy Bailey, Matt, Macy and Connor Shipley, Lauren Dokken, Haley and Shelby Glascock and Jamin and Izzy Miller; great - great grandchildren, Madelyn McDaniel and many more.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Texas City Main Campus, 3210 Gulf Freeway Texas City, Texas.
