Jerry Lee Doraty, 79, of Texas City, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on July 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home, followed by a burial at Hayes Grace Memorial Cemetery in Hitchcock. Visitation will take place from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City.
Jerry was born August 28, 1945, in Galveston, Texas (BOI). He Retired from the Texas City Police Dept. on January 31, 1993, as Captain Doraty. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa (Pawpee) and great grandpa who loved to travel with his beautiful wife and friends on various casino trips. In his final years, he enjoyed playing “BINGO” and loved shouting it out with enthusiasm. He was a Marine Corps veteran who served multiple tours in Vietnam. He always had unconditional love for everyone. His famous text message was “LOVE YOU MORE”
He is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Doraty; dad, Jack Doraty; mom, Gladys Allen Hooten; brothers, Jack Doraty Jr. and James Doraty; sisters, Joann Russell, Jeanette Bares and Jennifer Caso.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Jerrie Lynn & Guy P. Gilmore; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Chris Lambright; and son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Lee and Misty Doraty; grandchildren, Ashley, Josh and wife Tollie, Jennie Wheezy, Jessie and Husband Geoffrey, Judy and husband Byram, Michael and Wife Kaitie, Brittnee and Husband KJ, Taylor Ann, Nathan, Walker, Zachary, Madalyn, and Kayleigh. Great-Grandchildren; Kelsey Jean, Carter, Caleb, Thea-Lynn, John-T, Gavin, Charlie, Codie, Wyatt, Cassidey, Landon, Logan, Lucas, Cameron, Amelia, Brooklynn, and all other loved ones.
Pallbearers include Guy P Gilmore, Josh Perthuis, Byrum McCulloch, Geoffrey Rogers, Zachary Doraty, and Nathan Doraty.
Honorary Pallbearers include Walker Doraty, Michael Doraty, and KJ Rohde.
