Jo Ann McCann, 90, of Texas City, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025. She was born on January 6, 1935, in Port Arthur, Texas to the Geraldine (Taylor) Rourke and R.B. Rourke.
Jo Ann is preceded in death by her parents and husband of 52 years, Everett McCann.
She was member of First Baptist Church and served as a financial secretary.
Jo Ann McCann has known since she was 12 years old, that she would be following God's purpose for her life. She had a strong passion to live life and face trials as they came. Jo Ann had many accomplishments in life. She worked at Amoco for 21 years and TCR for 11 years as a confidential secretary. She transcribed notes and letters for doctors and lawyers and that was a favorite "after work" job that she enjoyed doing. She was a docent for providing tours of Historical Galveston homes. She had lots of antique knowledge that was a springboard for locating and selling unusual pieces for buyers and she had a passion for creating designer jewelry pieces, which was an incentive to start her new business, "Jewels and Memories."
A visitation with friends and loved ones will be Monday, May 12, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Emken-Linton Funeral Home, 5100 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, in Texas City, with funeral services to follow at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Forest Park East.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
