John A. Walker III, 71, of Santa Fe, TX passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones and his ever-faithful dog, Penny.
Born on December 12, 1953, John lived life to the fullest, through his kindness, laughter, and adventurous spirit. He was known for his incredible generosity, big smile, and witty sense of humor.
John and his wife of 41 years, Nora, built a life filled with love, family, and countless cherished memories. He was a proud dad and an even prouder Pawpaw, who will forever be remembered for his endless love and devotion.
John dedicated much of his life to building a career in the roofing business as the owner and operator of John A Walker Roofing. More than just a businessman, he was a leader who put others first, always prioritizing the well-being of his employees over his own. He served his community with honor and integrity, earning the respect of all who knew him.
Outside of work, John found happiness in the simple things. He loved fishing, hunting, golfing, coaching his children and grandchildren, and spending time with his family and animals. Above all, John will be remembered for his sharp sense of humor, his endless opinions, and his unwavering devotion to those he loved. His memory will be carried on in the hearts of everyone he touched, and he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by wife, Nora Walker; children, Michael and Sami Chisum, Jessica and Johnny Griego, and Ashley Bennett; grandchildren, Bryce Griego, Calley Bennett, Camden Celis, Syeed Chisum, Avin Bennett, Brayen Griego, Isaac Chisum, Parker Celis, and Brody Wright; and sisters, Melody Walker and Monica Walker.
He was preceded in death by father, John A. Walker Jr, mother, Nora M. Walker, and brother, Gary Walker.
Pallbearers are Michael Chisum, Johnny Griego, Calvin Bennett, Nick Roque, Miles Graugnard, and Avin Bennett.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City, Texas. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. following the visitation. Burial will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas.
