On September 3rd, 2016 Johnnie Dee Thompson, 66, passed away in his home in Texas City, TX. John was born in Portis, KS on August 13th, 1950 to the late Johnnie D. Thompson and Vonda St. Clair Thompson.

John is survived by his wife, Marsha Thompson and his daughter, Stephanie Thompson. John was preceded in death by his sister Cheryl Mitchell and has two surviving sisters, Donna Tichota and Carol Hartman. John also leaves to cherish his memory many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

John graduated from Osborne High School in Osborne, KS. After graduation, John served in the US Army. John married in 1973 and from that union had one daughter. John professed his life to Christ early in his life and was a spiritual leader to his family. John was a mechanic by trade until he retired in 2008. After retiring, John spent much of his time with his family. John enjoyed cooking and preparing for holidays. Working in the yard, maintaining the pool, and sprucing up his home were some of favorite hobbies. John loved making others laugh and enjoyed the simple things in life. Spending the weekends shopping for a new kitchen gadget or materials for a project at The Home Depot brought so much joy to his life.

Family, friends and others whose lives touched John's are welcome to join in a Celebration of Life at Emken-Linton Funeral Home, 5100 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway Texas City, TX 77591, Saturday, September 10th. Viewing begins at 12:30 p.m. followed by a service at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the memory of Johnnie Dee Thompson to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org/donate.
