Josephine Reina Flanagan, 88, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 in Houston, Texas. Josephine was a native Houstonian, born September 20, 1929. Her parents, Mary and Anthony Lee Reina were Italian immigrants and she was the only daughter. From a very early age, Josephine helped run the family owned grocery store. In 1953, she met the love of her life, Jack Wesley Flanagan and together they had one daughter, Theresa. From the 60's - 70's Josephine worked for several independent oil companies as a bookkeeper and one of Houston's favorite restaurants Valiant's. The love story continued with Jack later in life, she loved him so much they were married twice. Together, in the late 70's, they worked at Maxim Egg and in the 80's they owed and ran the snack and sundry shop, Jac-Jo, Inc. located in the Chronicle Building downtown. Awakening each morning at 3:30, working side by side with him, until his death in 1996.
Her passions in life all had to do with creations she could make with her hands. She was an avid gardener who loved pot gardening with beautiful flowers, an amazing custom dress designer, and afghans crocheted to perfection. She loved listening to Frank Sinatra and enjoyed dancing the night away, adorning herself in jewelry, and never leaving the room without her lipstick.
