Some people spend their lives searching for where they feel most at peace. For Josh, that place was on a surfboard, with the Gulf stretching endlessly before him and another wave waiting on the horizon. Joshua James Post, 41, passed away on July 24, 2026.

Born on August 20, 1984, Josh grew up in Texas City and graduated from Texas City High School with the Class of 2002. Following graduation, he served on Beach Patrol before spending seven years with UPS.

Josh possessed an extraordinary artistic gift. With little more than a pencil and his imagination, he created works that amazed those who saw them. Among his most remarkable works was his recreation of M.C. Escher's Hand with Reflecting Sphere, a piece that showcased not only his extraordinary talent but also his incredible patience and attention to detail. He also spent countless hours creating a life-sized Cat in the Hat for Parker's third birthday, a labor of love that became a treasured family memory. Art was simply part of who Josh was.

Josh had one of those wonderfully unique minds that held onto the kinds of details most people would never remember. If you ever needed the address of a business in Galveston, chances are Josh could tell you from memory. He could solve a Rubik's Cube with astonishing speed, dominate almost anyone in sports video games, and somehow always seemed to know the answers to trivia questions before anyone else. His niece Morgan learned early on that beating Uncle Josh at Trivia Crack was nearly impossible.

He had a quiet personality paired with a wonderfully subtle sense of humor. Josh never needed to be the loudest person in the room. Instead, he'd patiently wait for just the right moment to slip in a one-liner that left everyone laughing.

Josh loved alternative rock, especially Incubus, never turned down a trip to Taqueria, and enjoyed spending afternoons having an impromptu home run derby with friends. Family stories still bring smiles, especially those involving the white Corvette he loved in high school. Despite his father's firm instructions not to race it, let's just say a little family teamwork-and a quick-thinking uncle-helped keep that chapter from becoming even more memorable.

We'll remember Josh as the artist who could turn a blank sheet of paper into something extraordinary, the surfer forever chasing the next wave, the trivia champion who somehow always knew the answer, the quiet soul whose perfectly timed humor caught everyone by surprise, and a man whose unique gifts left lasting memories for everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Josh is survived by his loving parents, Chris and Leanne Post; his sister, Dee Kovacevich and her husband, Joshua; his brothers, J.R. Post and his wife, Traci, and Brett Post and his wife, Kristen; his beloved nieces, Morgan Frohne and her husband, Thomas, Parker Clough, and Cora Post. He is also lovingly remembered by his aunts and uncles, Buzz and Cindy Fuller, Sara and Glenn Riske, George and Rhonda Fuller, and Dee and Doug Jones; his many cousins; and countless extended family members and friends whose love and support have meant so much to our family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Betty Fuller and Harold and Dorothy Post, and by his brother-in-law, Michael "MC" Clough

The Post family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has surrounded them with prayers, kindness, and compassion during this difficult time. Your love has been a source of comfort and strength that will never be forgotten.

We find comfort in believing that Josh has found the peace he always seemed to find on the water. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

A Memorial Service celebrating Josh's life will be held on Thursday, July 30, at St. John's United Methodist Church in Texas City. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Service at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Josh's honor to Susan's Market through Mainland Children's Partnership.
