Leola Boone

Leola Morris Boone, 95, of Texas City, Texas passed away peacefully on February 23, 2018 in Columbus, Texas.

Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 26, 2018 at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.

Leola Boone was born November 29, 1922 to Nathan C. Morris and Ida (Shaw) Morris in Columbia, Mississippi. On July 22, 1944 she married Ryan Duane Boone to whom she was married to for 55 years. Leola was a retired school teacher having taught for 43 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Texas City where she served in the church nursey for many years. She loved sewing, cooking and most of all spending time with her family. Known as "Mee Maw" by her grandchildren, she loved them with all her heart.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Duane Boone; her parents; bothers, Rube and wife Eleanor, Joe and wife Minnie and Jack and wife Mattie; sisters, Helen and husband Jim and Marilyn all from Columbia, Mississippi.

Survived by son, Ryan Boone of League City, Texas; daughter, Jane Poppe and husband Mike of Katy, Texas; sister, Jim Morris and husband Paul; brother, Gary Morris and wife Mary of Columbia, Mississippi; sister-in-law's, Peggy Smith of Orlando, Florida and Diane Boone of Picayune, Mississippi; grandchildren, Shonda McClain and husband Frank, Kendra Heider and husband Austin, Hayden Poppe and wife Claire; great grandchildren, Kaylee Besselman and Kaydence Heider, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to First Baptist Church of Texas City.
