Lloyd Thomas Sparks

Lloyd Thomas Sparks, born on August 21, 1944, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. Lloyd was born in Timpson, Texas, to Lloyd E. "Pete" Sparks and Onie Mae Dillon. Though born in Timpson, Lloyd grew up in Texas City, where he proudly followed in his father's footsteps by building a successful career at Amoco Oil Company.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Sparks, who passed away on March 31, 2007. Their marriage blessed them with a daughter, Lori Merrem, granddaughter Lacie Merrem. Lloyd expressed his love for baseball by dedicating many years to coaching his daughter Lori's softball team, creating lasting memories for him and his daughter players.

On February 14, 2008, Lloyd married Gertrude, with whom he shared many wonderful years. He warmly embraced his stepson, Brian Gamble, stepdaughter, Tammy Noyes, and granddaughter, Olivia, cherishing his blended family.

Lloyd was a man of many talents and passions. Known for his exceptional craftsmanship and creativity, he produced beautiful pieces of woodwork, crafting elegant bowls, pens, toy chests, and a treasured grandfather clock for his wife, Gertrude.

Deeply enriched by his faith, Lloyd committed himself to ministering to others through Prison Ministry, Armatus in the Huntsville area. He found great joy in sharing his profound love for Jesus and remained dedicated to reading his Bible daily.

Lloyd will be remembered for his steadfastness, kindness, and unwavering commitment to family and faith. His legacy will be cherished by all who knew him.

The family extends their sincere gratitude for the compassionate care Lloyd received throughout his illness.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church, located at 15235 Spring Cypress Road, Cypress, Texas 77429. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held on Monday, July 21st at 11:00 AM at Forest Park East Cemetery, located at 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, Texas 77598.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of one's choice, in Lloyd's memory.
