Marcella Land, 98, passed away peacefully surrounded by love on January 18, 2026. Marcella was born on June 19, 1927, in Centralia, Illinois, to Aurelia and Hallie Manees.
She was married to Joe Land on August 6, 1946, in Centralia, Illinois. They met in Illinois while Joe was on leave from the army. They shared a crowded cab, and he graciously offered her a seat on his lap. Following his discharge, they married and moved back to Texas. They were married for 52 years at the time of his passing in 1999. They made their home in Texas City and raised their children, Mike, Peggy, and Pat. Marcella and Joe were active in their children’s lives and served their community. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Texas City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her siblings, Jack, Norman, Paul, and Nell and her son-in-law, Jim McLamore.
Marcella is survived by her son, Mike Land and wife Vicki; daughter, Peggy McLamore; son, Pat Land and wife Roxie; grandchildren, Joey Land, Chris Land, Russel Humphries, Samantha Williams, Heather Humphries, Travis Humphries, Stacy Land, Summer Land Maulden, Sherry McLamore Blundell, Leann McLamore Pearce; great grandchildren, Blane Murphy, Brack Land, Bryce Kirkpatrick, Kayleigh Flemming, Hunter Blundell, Izzy Pearce, Emma Land, Evan Land, Avery Land, Evelyn Land, Russel Humphries Jr., Hannah Humphries, Collette Humphries, Justice Flewellen, Liberty Flewellen, Claire Humphries and Audrey Humphries; great-great grandchildren, Isabella Land and Jackson Land, all whom she loved dearly and who loved her in return.
She will be laid to rest next to Joe at Hayes Grace Memorial Park during a family service.
Family will welcome friends and loved ones for a time of visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. A funeral service honoring her life will follow. Burial will take place at Hayes Grace Memorial Park.
