Mr. Dolores Velasquez

On Sunday, September 18th, one day past his 93rd birthday Dolores "Lolo " Velasquez was called home to his heavenly Father, at home surrounded by family. There he was greeted with open arms by his wife Dominga and son Joe. What a beautiful reunion.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 22, 2016 with a visitation from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City.

Lolo was a WWII Navy Veteran serving 1942 - 1946. He was very proud of his service and wore his Veteran and Navy caps proudly. Lolo was also a member of the American Legion post 89 in Texas City and lifetime member of VFW post 6378 in Dickinson. He worked for City of Texas City, retired; then went on to work for College of Mainland retiring from there also. Joining the Navy at a young age, then straight to the workforce he didn't complete high school. This bothered him so later in life in his 60s he completed and received his GED. Lolo was so proud to show his children he finally did it. He loved his family and friends and was there for whoever needed a helping hand.

He is survived by daughters, Bertie Arredondo, Dolores Velasquez, Laura Valadez and husband Sam; grandchildren, Debbie Solis, Jennifer Arredondo, Michele Lopez, and David Villanueva and wife Jerica; honorary grandchild, Angie Henk and his 13 great grandchildren who adored their Pawpaw. He was also Tio Lolo to numerous nieces and nephews; loved by all.

Our Mom always told us "Your Dad thinks he's Rambo". Daddy you will ALWAYS be Rambo to us!!

We would like to thank Amed for the compassionate care they gave our Dad.
