Nora Morris

Nora Overman Morris passed away peacefully from this life on January 7, 2018 in Texas City, Texas at the age of 86. Though our hearts are sad, our souls rejoice that she is with her Lord and Savior, healed of her earthly health problems and now reunited with many family and friends.

Nora was born in Rockdale, TX on September 26, 1931 to Noah Hilliard and Josephine (Sides) Overman. She was a twin and enjoyed with her sister, Ora Moseley, that closeness only twins can understand. Nora and Ora were the youngest in a family of 10 siblings. She graduated from Rockdale High School in 1948. Although they were classmates in high school, she and Wayne crossed paths again in Houston, fell in love and were married in 1951. This union was blessed with 2 children, Karen in 1954 and David in 1958.

The Morris family moved numerous times due to Wayne's business, but no matter where they lived, Nora was always active in her local church, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, her children's school activates, neighborhood coffee time and of course, bridge club.

Nora Morris was preceded in death by the love of her life, Oliver Wayne Morris in 1988, by her twin sister, Ora Moseley, her parents and other siblings Ruby Holliman, Ruth Lewis, Evelyn Caffey, Frank Overman, Robert Overman and Billy Overman. She leaves behind one son, David Morris (Texas City, TX) and daughter Karen Morris LaCoste and her husband Randy (Modesto, CA), grandsons, Aaron LaCoste and Jordan LaCoste (both of Modesto, CA), brothers, Edgar Overman (Marble, Falls, TX), Earl Overman (Overton, TX), sister-in-law Diane Jenkins (Crockett, TX) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

By Nora's request, there will be no local service. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery, Rockdale, TX. There will be a gathering after the funeral for family and friends.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to First United Methodist Church, Texas City, TX to First Christian Church, Rockdale, TX or to a charity of your choice.

Our Mother was a faithful Christian and believed in God's promise of everlasting life in Glory to those who believe in Him. We will be united with her again.
