Norma Gail Demers, age 69, of La Marque, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2024, at her residence in La Marque, Texas surrounded by her loved ones.
Norma Gail Carter Demers was born on December 19,1954 to Norma Gene and James E. Carter in Texas City, Texas. She worked for TCISD for 25 years, and she retired in 2015.
Gail’s greatest love was her family. She was an avid fisherwoman and had a love for gardening. She loved to sit with family and enjoyed watching The Houston Astros with a cold Budweiser. Her favorite movie was The Wizard of Oz. She had a passion for animals especially for her cat Haudia. She loved to cook and bake her famous cheesecake.
Gail is preceded in death by her parents James E. Carter, Sr. and Norma Gene Carter, sister, Terri Lynn Carter and son Shane Demers.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Tom Demers, sons Eric Demers and wife Maricella of League City, and Timothy Demers and wife Jacquelyn of Dickinson, grandchildren Jade Moreno, Maddison Demers, Izabela Demers, Kennedy Demers, Eric-Thomas Demers, Timothy Demers ll and brothers James Jr and Kelley Carter and sister Dawn Demers Narvaez and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Eric and Tim Demers, E.T. and T.D. Demers, Kelly Carter and Steve Jacobs.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2024, with a Rosary to follow at Emken-Linton Funeral Home.
Funeral mass to celebrate Gail’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 10114 Hwy 6, Hitchcock, Tx., with Father Larry Wilson officiating, with a reception immediately to follow in the Madonna Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
