Olive Elise Krell, 93, of Hitchcock, Texas passed away Monday, August 24, 2026, at her residence. She was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Galveston, Texas on February 20, 1933, to Earl and Vera Wakefield.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Wilmer Briggs and Willard Krell, sisters Ethel and L.D. Ward, Cecilia and Harry Hughes, and Estelle and Jack Neuner, daughter-in-law Sharon Briggs, and grandson John Ponce.

She is survived by her children Wilmer Briggs, Patty and Boyd Poff, Branda and Ceasor Romero, and David and Judith Briggs; stepchildren Bob and Teresa Krell, Barbara Krell, Joyce and Dennis Morse, Patty and John Tabor, 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She retired from The School of Allied Health at UTMB in Galveston. After retiring, she was a volunteer at the retirees at UTMB and volunteered at the Texas City Museum. She was an active member at St. George's Episcopal Church, and she loved to camp and travel all over the US.

A visitation with friends and loved ones will be Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. George's Episcopal Church, 510 13th Ave. N., Texas City, Texas 77590.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, at St. George's Episcopal Church with burial to follow in Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery.
