Pete Mono Sanchez, 82, went to be with the Lord on October 12, 2012, at his home in Galveston, surrounded by his family.
Pete was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lillie Tovar and parents Sixto Sanchez and Paula Perez Sanchez.
He is survived by his brother Ubaldino Sanchez and wife Wallie of El Paso brother John Sanchez and wife Nancy of Galveston sister Josephine Vasquez and husband Alfonso of Houston sons Pete Guy Sanchez and Randy Sanchez daughter Patricia Ann Sanchez stepdaughter Carol Botello Grandchildren Leticia Vasquez, Rosalie Stevenson and husband Alan, Paula Silva and husband Champ, Aaron Silva and wife Lisa, Patricia Silva, Summer Cabarubio and husband James, Kristina Sanchez, Daniel Sanchez and Loretta Carrosco greatgrandchildren Skylar Rabelas, Kendal Lyons, Zivan Vasquez, Alana and Adam Stevenson, Caila Humphrey, DMya Alexander, James Champion Smith Jr., Makayla and Madison Cadejas, Zavan and Zarah Knowles and numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Pete was born in Pflugerville Texas on January 24, 1930. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and worked before retiring as a Longshoreman I.L.A. Local 20. Pete and wife Lille owned and ran Lillies Bar on 20th Street in Galveston. Pete was a musician, who played the saxophone and sang with the Johnny Sanchez and Los Chicanos Band in the late 1950s.
He had a great sense of humor, and was also known as Grandpa to many people. After retiring he enjoyed fishing at his favorite spot, Nashs Bait Camp, and enjoyed spending time with his brother Johnny Sanchez and grandchildren. Mono will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Very special Thanks to his granddaughter Patsy Shorty and great granddaughter Kendal, whom were his main caretakers along with Wilhemina Mina Brooks, and special thanks to the Hospice Care Team, Pam and Eric.
Funeral services will be held 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 17, 2012, with a visitation prior from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at EmkenLinton Funeral Home in Texas City.
Per Grandpas wishes he is to be cremated.
