Priscilla Hayes

Priscilla Ellen Davis Hayes was born September 21, 1925 in Texola, Oklahoma, on the family farm. She passed away Friday, August 5, 2011, at the Vitas Hospice Center in The Woodlands.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at EmkenLinton Funeral Home in Texas City. Burial will follow at Forest Park East in Webster. Visitation will be 5 7 p.m., Tuesday, August 9, at the funeral home.

She spent her childhood years in Lefors, Texas, and was the oldest of 5 children born to parents Cleo and Eddie Davis. After the passing of her Dad, the family moved to Pampa, where Priscilla graduated from Pampa High School. She worked in her mothers beauty salon, Priscillas Beauty Shop, and lovingly cared for and looked after her 4 siblings: Eunice, Jack, Dick and James, as if they were her own.

Priscilla was swept off her feet by Dallas F. Hayes and they married January 24, 1943. Son Mack was born in Pampa, Texas, December 12, 1944. The family moved to Texas City where daughter Mitzi was born December 28, 1955. Dallas worked at Union Carbide for 37 years and Priscilla ran a beauty shop out of their home in Texas City for 15 years.

Priscilla became Grams when her granddaughter, Stephanie, was born November 29, 1965, daughter of Mack and Sandra. She added three grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren when Mitzi married Ben Collins in 1990. During their 55 years of marriage, Priscilla and Dallas made many lasting memories with lifelong friends and reaped the joys of strong family ties.

Priscilla was first and foremost a mom as well as wife, cook, homemaker, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, friend, Grams, business owner, seamstress, caregiver, domino and bridge player, shopper, fisherperson, TV watcher, and slot puller.

After the passing of her husband, Dallas, in 1998, Priscilla met Charlie Pederson who became a very special friend. They enjoyed 10 years of family gatherings, playing dominoes with friends and the comfort of companionship.

She elected to simplify her life by selling her home and moving in October 2009 to The Conservatory Senior Living Apartments in The Woodlands. She made so many wonderful new friends, played bridge and dominoes, and always enjoyed her lunch bunch girls.

Priscilla was the epitome of fashion, strength, and love, and the Queen of Clean, all with a sparkle in her eye wrapped up in one package. If she loved you, she loved, provided and protected you fiercely. Priscilla was a blessing to her family and friends. Her wisdom, smile and caring touch will live in our hearts forever.

She is preceded in death by her parents Eddie and Cleo Davis, husband Dallas Hayes,
sister Eunice Reed, brother James Davis, and soninlaw Ben Collins.

She is survived by son Mack Hayes and wife Sandra granddaughter Stephanie Hayes daughter Mitzi Collins and her extended family brothers Jack and Dick Davis and many cherished friends and relatives. She will remain in our hearts forever.
