Robert Lacquement

Robert Lee Lacquement, age 84, of Texas City, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at home with his wife at his side.

Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 11, 2024, with a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. A burial will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock.

Robert (Bob) was born on June 4, 1939, in Emporia, Kansas. When he was in first grade, his family moved to Arkansas City, KS.  He graduated from Ark City High School in 1957.  After graduation, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps.  After his service, he began working for Santa Fe Railroad.  His career with Santa Fe took him to Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas.  Amid career moves and a growing family, he earned his FCC radio license. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Ruth Lacquement, moved from Topeka, KS to Texas City, TX.  In his retirement, he enjoyed bowling league, golfing, and target shooting at the local range.  His most prized accomplishment in retirement was his service in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 61 Chocolate Bayou – Galveston, TX.  He served enthusiastically for 15 years, reaching the rank of Flotilla Commander. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church Texas City.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Opal Lacquement; son, Scott Lacquement; and daughter, Ann Broxterman.

Survivors include his loving wife, the former Ruth Evans of Galveston; sons, Jason Lacquement (Stephanie), Jeff Lacquement (Tandie), and David Lacquement (Joan); daughter, Jackie; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Lacquement; and sister, Jeanie Elliott.
