Rodney "Hank" Carnell Hankamer, 60, of Santa Fe, Texas passed away February 15, 2018 with his family by his side.

He was born January 20, 1958 in Texas City, Texas and graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1976. Rodney married his high school sweetheart Janet Armstrong. They were engaged their junior year and married September 25, 1976. They raised two sons, Dwayne and Jeff and lived most of their lives in different homes that Rodney built throughout Santa Fe. Their last move was in the renovated home of his grandparents, Fred and Mae Hankamer.

Rodney worked in the construction industry all his life. He built his first home for him and Janet in 1976 with the help of his father and grandfather. He worked for his father from 1976 to 1979 and was a union carpenter from 1979 to 1984. Rodney and Janet owned their own construction company "R C Hankamer Construction" from 1984 to 2004 where he made many lifelong friends. He built over 300 homes and businesses in the Galveston-Brazoria counties. In 2005 he began working for Jim Walters Homes as a Project Manager until 2009. He took his last job as a Regional Construction Manager with United Built Homes before retiring in 2015.

Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Reid Hankamer and Norma Jean Bellwood and father in law, Cecil Edward Armstrong.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Janet; sons, Dwayne Hankamer of Santa Fe, Jeff Hankamer and wife Jenny of Castle Rock, Colorado; brothers, Rick Hankamer and wife Lisa of Alvin, Russell Hankamer & wife Kathy of Santa Fe; mother in Law, Mary Frances Armstrong and sister in law, Joyce Balts of Santa Fe as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Most importantly Rodney will be a guardian angel for his soon to be granddaughter.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul Johnson, Jimmy Devona, Tony Amato, David Hayles, Chuck Rice, Dennis Kaufman, Wayne Reitmeyer, Mike Humphries and Robert Sambrano.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Texas Builders Foundation.org a scholarship program to support and develop the future of Texas construction industry.
