Sharon Stewart, 69, of Texas City, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Mainland Center Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City, Texas. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.
Sharon was born on January 16, 1956, at Ellington Field Air Force Base. She was strong-willed and independent, facing life with determination. While she wasn’t one for fuss or frills, Sharon was quick to help a friend or neighbor in need and could be counted on when it mattered most. After retiring from her career as a Coding Supervisor at UTMB, Sharon gave more of her time to Hope Community Church, where she especially enjoyed helping with the youth. She also loved gathering with her family, especially during holidays and special occasions. Sharon was straightforward and lived life on her own terms. She cared deeply, even if it did not always show, and did her best to be there for those she loved in her own way. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community, and the difference she made in their lives will not be forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Wallace and Joyce French Cornish.
Sharon is lovingly survived by her brothers, Robert L. Cornish, Russell C. Cornish and his wife Susan, and Joe Wilson Cornish; her sons, Ralph Wallace Brandsma Sr. and Richard Wilson Jr., and daughter-in-law Jennifer Brandsma; her grandchildren, Courtney Egan and husband Nicholas, Kenneth Knowles and wife Jess, Kyle Knowles and wife Allison, Michael Munson, Ralph Brandsma Jr. and wife Rebecca, Karriana Brandsma and her significant other Lee Fearnehough, Mason Brandsma, and Adah Brandsma; her great-grandchildren, Levi (7) and Matilda Egan (6), Adeline Knowles (6), and newborn Kiara Fearnehough; her nephew and niece, Scott Cornish and Briana Power; and her great-niece, Madelyn Victoria Power (2). She also leaves behind many beloved cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Knowles, Kyle Knowles, Ralph Brandsma Jr, Mason Brandsma, Allison Knowles, and Jennifer Brandsma.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sharon Stewart’s name to Hope Community Church, 1602 29th St N, Texas City, TX 77590, or online at Hope Community Church Donation Page. Contributions will go toward the purchase of a church van to carry on Sharon’s heart for helping kids and making sure that those who otherwise could not get to church are able to be there.Hope Community Church of Texas City
