Terry Lee Earl, age 78, of Texas City Texas passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. He was born in Luverne, Minnesota on March 5, 1948, the son of Melvin and Irene Earl.
A celebration of Life for Terry will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Memorial Lutheran and First Presbyterian Church in Texas City, with Pastor Chon Pugh officiating.
His family moved to Blue Earth in 1952 as his father accepted a position at Blue Earth Light and Water and his mom for Green Giant. Terry graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1966. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and was badly injured was honorably discharged but remained disabled for the rest of his life.
He returned to Minnesota, attended Mankato College and graduated with Physical ED and Art degree. Terry married Pam Erdahl and to this union they had two sons, Alan and Kyle, although this union ended in divorce they remained friends for the rest of their lives. Terry met the love of his life, Audrey McKnight from St. Peter and married on Sept.14, 1996. Audrey had two children, Shawn and Kelly, which he never thought of stepchildren, they were his children. Through the years Terry had several occupations he lived in Florida and worked at Disney World as a Golf Pro and on weekends he drove the submarine attraction at Disney World.
Terry Earl moved back to Eagle Lake, MN for a brief time and then moved to Mankato, working at the golf course North Links, and an Apartment Manager. He then decided to become a postal worker at the Mankato Post Office and later applied for a postal position in Houston, Texas and thus moved* to Texas City and retired from the Postal service. Terry was a great sports lover, with golfing his favorite, he taught golf to many who wanted to learn. He also loved dancing and would dance whenever and wherever he could. He met his wife Audrey in a singles group and throughout their lives they danced many nights away. Terry also watched football, baseball and basketball, always routing for the Vikings, Twins and Timberwolves.
He also liked the Texans football team but if they played the Vikings, it was Vikings all the way. Terry was well known for his gardening skills and became a Master Gardener. He used his gardening skills to create a huge garden in his church's back yard with the congregation given the many vegetables on a sharing table in the church. Audrey and Terry also liked to travel and went on many sightseeing adventures in the States, also traveled to Europe several times where he took a multitude of pictures. Last, but not least, Terry made garden lights from plastic 5-inch pipe and yard ornaments made from wood fence posts.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey of Texas City; his dog, Frances; son, Alan Earl of Houston Texas; son, Kyle (Jennifer) Earl of LaMarque, Texas; Shawn (Jamie) McKnight of Perrydale, Oregon: sister, Candy Sasse of Blue Earth, Minnesota; grand-children, Ben, Issac, Ashley, Serenity, Noah, Marty, Alexis, Kyla, Natasha and Makayla. Terry and Audrey met very special families who became grandchildren of the heart- Samatha Alan; Alexis, Dakota, Taylor Mae, Nova Leigh Renken; Brook and Kaleb Jacobs, Jeremiah Reed, Grace Holmes, and Claytisha Jenkins.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, James; daughter, Kelly; brother-in-law, Danny Sasse; infant granddaughter, Samantha; Audrey's parents and Taylor.
