Theo Baudoin, Jr., 91, of Texas City, Texas passed away peacefully at home December 15, 2023. He was born December 23, 1931, in Maurice, Louisiana.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m., Friday, December 29, 2023, with a visitation from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City, Texas.
Theo joined the Army Corps of Engineers at age 17. His unit of service was 2nd Engineer Combat Battalion and 2nd Infantry Division and was soon sent to Korea where he was captured and became a Prisoner of War from 1950 until his release in August 1953 as a Corporal. He received a Soldiers welcome Home with a parade and Key to the City (Texas City).
He fell in love at first sight and married Mary Elizabeth Ford on November 13, 1953. They just recently had their 70th Wedding Anniversary. Together they owned and operated their own Flooring business with much of his work still in many of the homes and businesses of Texas City and the surrounding areas.
Theo was very much involved with the VFW, Veterans of Foreign Affairs, Korean Veterans as well as other Military organizations. He was passionate about educating everyone on the Korean War and would travel to local schools and libraries to share his story. He was an avid reader and researcher on the subject of all Wars.
He is preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Dean Baudoin; father, Theo Baudoin Sr; mother, Mary Louise Ellis; stepfather, Hobart W Ellis and sister, Shirley Louise Carroll.
