Vera Skaggs

Vera Skaggs, 97, of Texas City, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Heartis Memory Care Facility in Webster, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. with a visitation from 11:00 - 12:00 p.m. at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. Burial will be at Houston National Cemetery.

Vera was born May 27,1926, in Freeport, Texas. She worked as a receptionist at various companies until her retirement and moving to Texas City. Vera was a previous member of the Sr. Volunteers for The Chamber of Commerce as well as the Police Academy. She was active and volunteered at The Grand Opera House in Galveston until her health forced her to stop.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John S. (Jack) Skaggs. Survivors include daughter, Cheri Shuler, and husband Dave; grandson, Jamie Miller; niece, Ellen Chicon and husband Rich; 3 great grandchildren, 1 great niece and nephew, and numerous great great nieces and nephews.
