Virginia Tijerina

Virginia Tijerina, 81, formerly of Texas City, passed away peacefully at home Monday, August 22nd, 2016 in Rio Rancho, NM.

Virginia was born October 5th, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas. She was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 626.

Her husband of 58 years Quinto "Kito" Tijerina; parents, Tomasa and Emerterio Benavides, brothers, Antonio and Jesus Benavides, and grandson, Michael Tijerina precede her in death.

Virginia is survived by son Cosme and life partner Vickie Lovejoy; daughter, Thelma Kiker and grandson Tommy Martinez and wife Whitney and great-grandson Keegan; son, Michael and great-grandson Julein; daughter, Sandy and partner, Suzie Blanton and granddaughters, Stevie and Shayne; sisters, Nora Obregon and Celia Anthony; brother, Emerterio Benavides and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A visitation will take place Friday, August 26th, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. A service will be held Saturday, August 27th 11:00am at Emken-Linton funeral home with burial to follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock.
