Wanda Prouty

Wanda G. Prouty left her earthly life on July 15, 2016. She was a wife, mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and loyal friend to all. She was proceeded in death by her father, Lee Shope and her mother, Willa "Billie" Durham.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband and friend of 33 years, Tom Prouty, whom she made an honest man of for 21 years following a brief courtship of 12 years. Her three sons, Dwayne Goodnight (Amber), Richard Goodnight (Ashley), and Mitchell Goodnight. Her two daughters Kristine Pulley (Steve), and Yvonne Goodnight. Her brothers, Rick Shope (Lenore) and Tom Shope (Marilyn), and her two sisters, Margaret Manz (Mike) and Harriet Ching (Larry). Grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Wanda was a loving and supportive mother who attended hundreds of baseball, basketball, football, and swimming competitions and was usually the loudest fan. She didn't always understand the game, and would sometimes yell out the wrong comment, but she was always there. Wanda was a selfless friend who placed others needs before her own. She was the type of individual who would give the shirt off her back when she felt it was needed. She inspired those around her to believe in the goodness of others. She loved to travel (once you got her on the road), Las Vegas, Hawaii, to dance, getting together with friends and future new friends, but most of all, she loved family time together.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Regency Village and Clear Lake Hospital for the kindness and compassion shown to Wanda and her family. We also want to thank Dr. Daniel Piazza, the Blocker Eagles and her TDCJ family for all the support shown during this chapter of her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the National Diabetes Association or the Texas City ISO Foundation for the Future.

A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., at Emken-Linton Funeral home. Anyone that loved Wanda is welcome.
